His professional bee studies began while pursuing his masters degree in molecular biology at East Carolina University. Upon graduation he worked in commercial bee research, studying colony genetics and agricultural health across the United States. When Starling isn’t beekeeping, he can be found nose deep in a good beekeeping book. He also enjoys cooking and spending time with Cissi and the dogs. Cissi’s love for bees was inspired by her love for Starling. With a much lower pain tolerance to bee stings than Starling, she utilizes her passion for performance, communication, and business management to keep Orbital (and Starling) in orbit.
